The World

The Glitch world consists of a number of interlinked locations. Internally, these locations are all called streets, although many of them are really rooms, passageways, imaginary spaces etc. When you open the in-game map, you see a number of streets laid out in a conencting pattern. This collection of streets is internally called a hub, though refered to in-game as a region. The collection of hubs you can visit reside within a single mote, called Ur. A mote represents a continent, or perhaps a planet, who the hell knows?

  • Motes contains Hubs
  • Hubs contain Streets
  • Streets contain players, items, NPC and all the good stuff

The API exposes a method called locations.getHubs which returns a list of all the hubs in Ur. To get a list of the streets within one of the hubs, call locations.getStreets. Once you know the TSID of a street, you can call locations.streetInfo to get information about that streets. For example:

{
	"ok"	: 1,
	"tsid"	: "LLI3272LOTD1B1F",
	"name"	: "Groddle Forest Junction",
	"hub"	: {
		"id"	: 56,
		"name"	: "Groddle Forest"
	},
	"mote"	: {
		"id"	: 9,
		"name"	: "Ur"
	},
	"image"	: {
		"url"	: "http://c2.glitch.bz/streets/2011-07-21/...",
		"w"	: 720,
		"h"	: 144
	},
	"active_project"	: false,
	"features"	: [
		"An <b>Alchemical Goods Vendor<\/b>.",
		"Plus <b>4 Piggies<\/b>."
	],
	"connections"	: {
		"LLI23FELDHD1O3C"	: {
			"name"	: "Middle Valley Clearing",
			"hub"	: {
				"id"	: 56,
				"name"	: "Groddle Forest"
			},
			"mote"	: {
				"id"	: 9,
				"name"	: "Ur"
			}
		}
	}
}

Each street has an snapshot image (along with its dimensions) that represents the street. Features is a list of HTML strings detailing some of the street's contents. A list of the connected streets that are reachable from this one are also returned; most will be in the same hub, but inter-hub connections appear here too.

Not every location in the game is accessible via this API method. Instanced starting locations, quest instances, quarters, houses and some buildings cannot be inspected at this time. Every location indexed in the encyclopedia will work.
