[FIXED] Loud static noises

Lots of people reporting hearing loud static noises in-game this evening.

Seems to be associated with multiple events: random kindness, firefly jars, teleporting, changing streets.

Also seemed to be consistent... if it happened once then it would happen again. Except I was hearing it consistently with random kindness and I adjusted my sound sliders to identify which channel it was coming in on... and I haven't heard it again since.

Some people reporting it on the music channel, some on the effects channel. Only clue we've got so far is that two of us have reported that moving the sound sliders stops it.

Everyone that stated a browser was using Chrome... not sure if that's a valid lead.

  • don't normally have sound on - turned it on to help id where static noise is. Had both sliders set to 0 initially. Turned music up and there was definitely static. Turned it down to 0 and turned effects up - no static. Turned effects to 0 and music back up - no static.

  • I was just going to make a thread about this!  The noise makes me jump out of my seat, every time.  I've noticed it occurring with super harvests.  I also use Chrome.

  • Yep, I'm getting it this morning too!  Mostly when I change streets.  I have sound in Glitch way down but the hiss is really loud!   Solar storm hitting Glitch today :0

  • Just effects on, instead of meditation  music. (How are you supposed to meditate with static anyway?! :p )

    ETA: Turning music on and then off made the static disappear. I don't get meditation sounds either, but no sound is better than static! :D

  • I have had the loud static burst when getting a super harvest and when teleporting.  Also using Chrome.

  • I'm using Firefox, just throwing it out there, and I'm getting the static also.  Not sure what causes it for me, it is seemingly random.

  • I get the static when I *leave* a street - when I click or hit enter on a street sign.

  • I am using FF.  I get static when I catch Fireflies or when the music changes.  Very loud!  I also get it when I Nibble a piggie.  Also just before the train stops.

  • Firefly whistle... Firefox under Ubuntu (all patched over the past couple days).  Things were cool when I logged last night.  Static blasts this morning.  I think we should all panic...

  • I'm on Firefox - happens when I change streets or get a Super Harvest. Also got it rinding the Subway train (changing streets, I suppose) and when I went /home.

  • We're looking into this. Players report that adjusting your in-game music or effects sliders will stop the static sound for that game session -- meaning if you refresh your browser or leave and come back, you'll need to move the sliders again.

    The list so far of actions that can make the static sound happen:
    - Random Kindness
    - Super harvest
    - Firefly Whistling
    - Changing streets/teleporting
    - Tincturing
    - Musicblocks
