S.Herb Garden removed from spot can't be put back? No room?

I had a Small Herb Garden at the end of my street. It broke, so I removed it. When I went to place it back, there's NO dots there and it says I have no room to place it there.

How was I able to place it there to begin with if it wasn't supposed to fit there?

Did the game devs change the sizes of the plots since I've placed it down, making it so I can't put it back there again?

• This happened to me too, but with a dirt pile that I removed. Now I can't put anything in the space where that pile was.

• If it helps, when I cultivated my front yard (which was where I placed a dirt pile), I tried to pack everything as close together as possible. I suspect that if I hadn't put everything so closely together, I might be able to replace that removed dirt pile.

• Same issue in my backyard. My large herb garden lost it's "lifespan" and I tried to just put one down in the EXACT same spot, but there is no room.
