Objects in our houses?

I have a question regarding items in our houses. When we officially move onto the new housing:

~ What happens to items that are in our old home? Are they moved to our inventory/new home, or do they disappear {& we get its cash value or something}?
~ Do the objects we already placed in our new homes disappear or just stay there?

Thank you,

  • All of your items will be packed into Moving Boxes automatically; nothing will disappear.

  • Everything in the old house will be moved for us. Moving boxes have been mentioned. Items in the new house will be fine too. Not sure if those'll get put in the boxes or just stay where they are. But, we keep all our stuff.
ETA:Tom, you are so much more concise. Hehe. We must have been typing at the same time.

  • Well if you read the staff topics you would know that everything in your old house gets moved over automatically. Stuff you've placed in your new house will be put in boxes.

  • Except that (I believe) furniture, decorations, etc. - anything added for free to your test house is just test stuff and will be gone when you get your real house.

  • Yup, a grand reset of the housing test items/modifications is slated for a bit after the imgination release. All of that is better explained at the blog, though.

  • Thanks :3

    I just haven't been able to pay much attention to the forum. {Super busy with college at the moment}

  • @Liza - Imagination and THEN housing reset?

  • Yes Merth.  From the blog

For now we’re still in full sprint mode, working on the transition to Imagination(which won’t be out till closer to the end of the month; a bit longer after R2 than we originally thought). That will be a very complicated release and the transition to the new housing system will follow shortly after it.

  • What about the stuff in our old yards? Trees, pigs, feeders, etc? Will that get packed an moved too?

  • Feeders/collectors will be put in moving boxes
Animals will be turned into eggs.
    Trees, crops will disappear.

  • Ok, heard that. But what about items stored out in the yard (planks, loam, the assorted old tool and whatnot)? Also I have some stuff on the front of my house (like Glitch MMO boxes, single rocks of sparkly for decoration) -- will that stuff be moved even if it's on the front of the house?

  • Stuff in the yard will be put in moving boxes.  Animals in the yard will be turned into eggs.  Trees and crops planted in patches or gardens in your yard will disappear.

This applies to both your test home and yard and your Ur home and yard.

  • Anything placed on the public street which your house happens to be built on and you can cultivate, such as where the front of your house is, will probably be reset and lost into the ether. You may want to pick those items up and move them inside :)

  • Does anyone have a reference for things in the yard?
(of course it's better to be safe than sorry, and move the stuff inside)

  • Jade said in Live Help last night that the things in the yard were still uncertain. (we asked right after these posts were made).   The only thing they are sure about is that unharvested crops and trees will not be moved.

So Liza's advice is still the best in these uncertain times.  While it is not likely that staff want to deal with "yardaggedon" (thank you Lisa) when everyone's icons go missing, it is not yet certain that things in the yard will be packed up for you.

  • Thanks for going to get that clarification, WindBorn...(goes to pack up stuff in the backyard)

  • I'm curious to know if they've considered that machinery will need to be dis-assembled before being stored in any sort of 'slot'.
