The amount of accounts in Glitch
Hi all!
I had always wondered how many accounts were in Glitch. So, I figured it out. There are 10219 registered. Yes, 10219! I detailed how I got it here: www.glitch-strategy.com/wik...
So, yeah, if you're reading this, you're one of the 10219 that play Glitch. Of course, not all those are active, but, you know... haha.

You can use a little Javascript to count it - on the players page, copy and paste this into the URL bar and hit enter:

- Pretty cool, and I can definitely see it as this is the best game I've played since Faunasphere. Does anyone know if we will be able to keep our user names once the game is out of alpha and officially released?
- @Dave -- Dang, that is a good way. I used that page, just took the list code, copied that into an HTML document, changed it from an unordered list to an ordered list, and bam, had the count. If only I was better at JS... blah. Haha.

If anything, you did exactly the same thing, except manually! :)
Also, you got me to practice my now-rusty Javascript knowledge, so that's always good. - According to the leader boards only ~830 have actually entered the world and earned more than 1 xp.... so less than 10% of the registered players are active.

- remember too, the leaderboards were wiped with the rest of the world, so that definition of "active" is really really narrow (2 tests/3days)
- I checked before the reset and over half had not gotten more than 40xp
- Point is, those numbers were 10k and 350 people before this test, wonder what the figure is for the Now #'s vs the 850 playing. I've always found the 'registered' numbers to be insanely silly. There's a 10-5-1 rule with mass produced items, for every 10 people you get to look, 5 will actually stay a few minutes, 1 will buy. Seems Glitch is hitting that dead on.
- I wondered why they blocked the page. I bet this thread is why. :-) I counted by copying/pasting into a spreadsheet and went by the last row number. There were only 4,000 the last time I did that.

Oh noes! The profiles page ( alpha.glitch.com/profiles/ ) now redirects to the home page.
But devs, we use that page to check the username of every member that signs up to our Wiki, to make sure that a) they're a tester, and if so, we ask them to link to their Glitch profile page on their wiki User Profile and b) they're not a spammer. We'd be *really* grateful to be able to use that page again... :) - Would their profile url work as proof?
- True, but if they're a spammer, they wouldn't really reply and it could be left too late.
- Wait for an answer before giving out the account for safety. no answer, no account, no spam
- Officially how many accounts is a user permitted?
