♥ Upgrade Game Cards [Now with video tutorial] ♥

I love these things. Great Img and fun to play

Which one is your favourite ?  Is there a game that you absolutely suck at?

Anyone have some suggestions or useful advice for those who do not know about bonuses?

  • I love the music for Sky Plunge but have never been able to get all the quoins in one go. I have gotten the message and believe that it happened when I got the Qurazy Quoin AFTER I had gotten all of the other quoins first (skipped the last two quoins until I had gotten all of the others). But I have never gotten extra Qurazy Quoins.

I love/hate Radial Heights because I love being a star but get very frustrated when I screw up. If anyone is stuck on this one, try re-attempting the sequence once you have gotten the moon. You can still get the special message so long as you get it in the proper order (if you hit a wrong star, you just have to make sure to hit the previous correct star before moving ahead in the sequence). You will not get the extra Qurazy Quoins for a second attempt but it can help you learn the best way to approach the pattern for the next time you use it.

Arbor Hollow is lovely but I have yet to get any sort of special message, even if I get each quoin in order. What's the trick to that one (if there is one)? I have never gotten extra Qurazy Quoins for it.

I like Cloud Flight and enjoy getting the hidden quoin but also have gotten no special message for that. I have decided there must be something that happens if you can get all the quoins (minus the hidden one) by only hitting the spacebar once per arc but that could just be my brain making shit up (it does that). I have never gotten extra Qurazy Quoins for it.

I enjoy Starlit Night but have not gotten any special message, even after trying all sorts of quoin "order" attempts. Is there a special message for that one? I have never gotten extra Qurazy Quoins for it.

  • There are specific patters one is supposed to follow?

    *grrr*  *argh*

  • I have tried several dozen times but can't get the special message in Radial Heights. I have grown to hate that card.

I don't really have a favorite. Sky Plunge annoys me after a while. Cloud Flight makes me dizzy.

As far as I know, only Radial Heights and Sky Plunge have a special message.

  • I suck at Sky Plunge so bad... Radial Heights in fun when you actually do it properly

But I am a big fan of the Arbor Hollow since it's simple and fast. Cloud flight is hard for me.. and the starlit night is kind of boring lol

  • i'm with SchWM; there are special patterns and qurazy quoins in those?? i've been doing them this whole time and have never gotten anything special! *grrr* *ugh*

  • My favorite is Arbor Hollow. Quick and to the point: Climb the tree, jump down, get img!

I hate the others so much that I'll gladly trade you my non-AH ones for your AH cards.

  • I like the night ones, even though I can't quite master Radial Heights.  Love the sounds.

Sky Plunge is easier, with some repeat falls needs.  Have never gotten them all in one go.

The only one I really hate playing is Cloud Flight!  I get motion sickness just trying to play it.  Way too much uncontrolled movement.  I usually give my Cloud Flight tickets away to my friends.  If anyone knows of any way to slow it down, or decreased the responsiveness of the playing field to movement, please let me know!

  • Each star in starry night has a tone. My guess is that you have to play some sort of song (perhaps the one that plays in radial heights?) if there is anything secret to be unlocked.

  • Zen and Snow Puff - Try doing them in order in Radial

  • Different strokes for different folks.

I deeply dislike Arbor Hollow: jumping & climbing and then going down a chute are not fun for me. On the other hand I really like Cloud Flight. Go figure!

Wanna stock up on Arbor Hollow? There's an SDB vending 'em in my tower because I sure don't want 'em.

  • I'll have to pop by and raid your tower Pascale ;)

  • I did Cloud Flight with only pressing jump once per arc and nothing special happened. So you can make note of that.
Posted 11 years ago by Papa Legba Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, but did you land on the bottom coin at the bottom of one of the arcs?

  • OMG. I had to burn through a LOT of radial tickets, but it was worth it...

  • Also, at least one of the "horizontal" rows in starlit night forms a scale. I'm not good enough at jumping to be sure, but I think there might be another one up above. So my guess is that there is an order -- it might just be getting all the notes chromatically in order, but that requires going back and forth a couple times, and, like I said, I don't have the skills...

  • Thanks Papa Legba! It's been making me crazy not knowing if that might work :)

  • Arbor hollow is my hate- i am a horrible jumper.those are for sale in my tower lobby for 1000c each. Tried sky plunge, maybe once, and it drove me nuts- i was epic fail there too. Radial is fun-but i am not sure i got the super bonus there yet. The others will need to try more to see if i enjoy them or not. ;)

  • For those of you having trouble with Radial Heights, I've found that I can "correct" my progress, provided I don't hit the very last quoin on the outside of the spiral.

If you miss a quoin/hit one out of order, go back to the last quoin you hit "correctly" and start from there. Go over that quoin again, then continue hitting the rest of the quoins in order, even if you've already lit them up. You should be able to complete the spiral this way and be a star! Good luck!

  • Here, i just made a video on how to correct your mistake and still get the bonus from radial heights. Sorry it was just an awful webcam video.. but you get the idea!

  • I quite enjoy them all really, but I hate them all when I have lag.
My fave has got to be Radial heights with sky plunge a close second (because of the happy falling music)

It seems that only Radial Heights has a 'special bonus' of extra Qurazy Quoins

I've done Cloud flight with just one jump per arch, not a sausage
I've tried speeding through Arbour Hollow as fast as I can, Nada
I've gotten all of the quoins in one go in Sky Plunge, zip (apart from the music and the message)
Starlit night? I thought it would be kinda cool if you had to play twinkle twinkle little star or something but I don't have the patience to work that out (if it's even possible!)

  • Wow! I had no idea that you could hit already lit stars and not have them count as messing up! Woo Hoo! Also, I'm not quite sure what I expected your voice to sound like but I was both surprised by it and quite delighted to hear your accent  :)

  • I did some extensive poking around in Starlit Night, hoping to find some sort of secret in those notes, but no luck.

If anyone else wants to try their hand:

    All the notes identified

Notes in ascending order (duplicates and chord omitted)

I did try to get all the notes in ascending order (going back after mistakes, in case it works the same as it does in Radial Heights), but there was no result. Not sure if it was due to my motor control, or if there is nothing there.

"Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" isn't an option, at least if it's more than one line and in C major, which the general distribution of notes seem to hint at - one needs an F, which is only there in the chord from the moon. G major would however work, if anyone cares to try. Notes should be G1 G1 D2 D2 E2 E2 D2 C2 C2 B1 B1 A1 A1 G1 etc.

I tried to recreate the notes from the little chime it plays on completion - CEGCBCE, again no luck. And I think I've put way too much effort into it by now. ;-)

Posted 11 years ago by Jessenya Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I honestly don't think there's any other kind of bonus other than Radial Heights. The description on the back of the Radial Heights upgrade even says, take special care and you'll get a message. None of the other cards say anything like that.

  • There is a small img quoin hidden in the fog in Cloud Flight about half way through. I haven't been able to find anything else though!

  • Confirmed!
Posted 11 years ago by Jessenya Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Double confirmed! It's a normal iMG quoin I think.

  • SPEAKING of Radial heights... Shouldn't it say "YOU'RE A STAR" instead of "YOUR A STAR"  ?

  • I think that is deliberate - like the backward R
