Giant List of Locations for Traveler Achievements (The Penultimate Update as of December 5 2012) Current Count: 1439

An ongoing mystery with street location qualification has finally been solved (after 22 days since this thread first opened on 2011/11/8). A major thank you to everyone who helped report results, data, and information. The key results and findings that were previously uncertain but now confirmed are:

Places that count: Everything in Jethimadh Tower, all one-time quest locations including The Back Alley and Rooks' Woods, both old Hell One and new Hell One. Four locations from the limited time only Cosma Performance Testing.

Places that don't count: Subway Stations, Machine Rooms.
Before the release of new streets in Rasana and Aranna, there were 774 confirmed locations, which matched the maximum, non-glitched high scores leading to confirmation in exactly which streets did or didn't qualify.

Current List (as of December 5 2012)

  • Update 50: Over 100 new locations released in the last month of Ur. New places not in the Encyclopedia are: 1 Seam Street (Namaste), 1 Underground Puzzle (Purplysa), 1 Uralia street (Symphonious Maximus), 2 Quests (Mental Block 2, Picto Pattern), Hall of Rejected Concepts in Jethimadh Tower: Mid (access from Tower St. West), and 6 unlisted locations in Vortex of Random.

  • Update 49: Final two places? Distant End, uutiif (continues from Distant End). The door to Distant End is in Russula Involutii, Haoma.

  • Update 48: New transit system in region Moshi Moshi Oshilatis adds 7 new locations. Shim Shiri was previously known as Asslandia.

  • Update 47: 20 new streets in the incredible Nottis region. It's now possible to obtain the Globetrotter Extraordinaire achievement!

  • Update 46: 29 new streets in Vantalu.

  • Update 45: New Quest: An Old Fashioned B&E transports you to B.T.C Room #3.

  • Update 44: Third season-themed level quest An Autumn Day unlocked from Epic #2. With three different quest endings, there are 4 total locations associated with this quest.

  • Update 43: A new secret location unlocked by Epic #2: An Abstrixian Aside. A hint was announced by GOD in Local Chat:
There's also a new secret spot hidden in one of the existing secret spots. Sorry I can't say more, but I am contracually prevented from doing so. Let's just say that it's a region in which only a portion of the light source is obscured by the occluding body. Know what I mean??

  • Update 42: Three new starter quest locations for learning some of the elementary skills: A L'il Animal Kinship; Breezy, EZ Cookin'; Talking 'bout Soil Appreciation. It just so happens all three locations have an apostrophe in the name.

  • Update 41: New quests unlocked from feats, as well as reminisce quests from the Play Cube item. Receive the Play Cube after completing the Color Unblocking quest. Join the Club quest offers Pintura Prosa from jumping into the Curious Painting inside the clubhouse.

  • Update 40: Three new regions unlocked from the First Epic (The Penyahtewan Assembly): Ormonos, Lida, and Jal.

  • Update 39: New Mental Block quest released (2 locations, one for first-time and one for all subsequent repeats).

  • Update 38: The Greedy Street Spirit counts as a new location upon reminiscing from the Emotional Bear.

  • Update 37: Sequel to Walk Toward the Light, Radiant Glare quest added.

  • Update 36: Being Watched quest added. Drink a Cup of Water from a Bureaucratic Hall Water Cooler. One of the few locations where snapshottery is not possible.

  • Update 35: Two new party locations released (Aquarius and Val Holla).

  • Update 34: The second feat unlocked a new region, Firozi, with 25 new streets. 1 additional linking street added in Alakol (Via Firozi).

  • Update 33: First of the Giants-themed quest, The Last Pilgrimage of Esquibeth, adds four new locations.

  • Update 32: 3 new quests: The Wrizzards and The Rube, Operation: Grow, and Walk Toward the Light.

  • Update 31: Third Level Quest, Winter Walk, has four locations. Winter Walk and Winter Haven each have a first-time location and a repeat location. When you enter the quest from the second time onwards, you'll always be in the repeat Winter Walk and repeat Winter Haven locations.

  • Update 30: Talk to a Piggy to start the new quest (The Greedy Street Spirit). Two new regions, Haoma and Kloro, unlocked from the first Feat..

  • Update 29: Le Miserable, the second Level Quest, appeared prematurely on August 23, 2012, and later officially released on August 24, 2012.

  • Update 28: 11th Ticket to Paradise level Slip 'N Slide released August 9, 2012.

  • Update 27: 5 more Ticket to Paradise levels from upgrade cards (Abysmal Thrill, Beam Me Down, Bippity Bop, Cloud Rings, Mountain Scaling).

  • Update 26: Amberlyza is the 6th and latest street in the underground basement puzzle series.

  • Update 25: 5 new bonus levels from upgrade cards (Arbor Hollow, Cloud Flight, Radial Heights, Sky Plunge, Starlit Night).

  • Update 24: Two new regions (Balzare and Roobrik) with 21 streets each add 42 streets to increase the normal max score over 1000.

  • Update 23: A new quest called A Summer's Day now available by talking to any street spirit vendor (in Groddle, Uralia, Firebog). Three locations are involved with this quest.

  • Update 22: Fernucopia becomes the 5th street in a series of locations accessed via locked doors in relic apartment tower basements.

  • Update 21: 9 new streets (5 Apartment Tower Basements and 4 color-themed locations accessed from the locked doors in the 5 basements; it is random which of the 4 color-themed locations you are teleported to when entering a basement's locked door).

  • Update 20: 5 old housing Apartment Towers now count for location scores.

  • Update 19: 3 new Seam Streets added on April 25 2012.

  • Update 18: 127 new locations in 5 new regions! 21 of the new locations are new streets in old regions. 51 new Habitats, Parks, and Reserves are for Foxes. 4 Habitats, 8 Parks, and 9 Reserves are in old regions.

  • Update 17: Reformatting of list and organization. New categories added for Party Locations, Quests, Tower Quest (in Jethimadh Tower), Multiplayer Games, and a section for no longer available locations. The 4 Cosma Performance Test locations increase total maximum general public location count to 840.

  • Update 16: Three new Enchanted Forests and Hell Bar in Naraka

  • Update 15: New link and street name fixes for Rooks' Woods and You Feel Woooooozy...

  • Update 14: Two new quests (Four Letter Words and Word Up) lead to The Kid's Room.

  • Update 13: Revamp of the list display. Added latest discoveries section and made all lists collapsible with index to regions.

  • Update 12: The Back Alley has returned for those who missed it in the We're Off to See the Lizard quest (learn Fuelmaking to receive the quest). New Vision Quest travels to the Institute of Ocular Testing (learn Eyeballery).

  • Update 11: New holiday party pack location at Winter Wingding. A street previously only accessible by staff was temporarily opened as a portal via Door Potion. Only a few players in the right place at the right time managed to obtain this location score. See more info here

  • Update 10: New areas, some secret, have been hinted. So far 4 have been discovered as of 2011/12/22. Axis Denyde, The missing floor, The lost floor, and The forgotten floor.

  • Update 9: New region of Rasana and expansions in Aranna bring 50 new streets! Plus Le Voyage Violet for 51 new total.

  • Update 8: Mystery solved thanks to elka for the last piece in the puzzle: Machine Rooms don't count towards the scores! Now all the numbers add up and everything makes sense. HarleyQuin's score is currently glitched, no one will be able to match the score, unless someone also accidentally triggers glitched residential areas that counted.

  • Update 7: Naraka adds 6 locations extending from Hell One. New score for 766 people to be stuck on is 773! Scores have increased by 7 if you visit all 7 Naraka locations including Hell One (but Hell One counted before, so does that mean anyone who had visited Hell One previously would have 2 points for Hell One, while new players would only get 1 point for the new Hell One? Or the other explanation could be the old Hell One didn't count.)

  • Update 6: A previously missed location on the list has been added thanks to Folderol. "You're Feeling Wooooozy" directly follows Fireflex 3000 Lab so if you have been to Fireflex 3000 Lab, by default you'll have been to You're Feeling Wooooozy.

  • Update 5: With a breakthrough discovery by Folderol in lifting a previously incorrect assumption that the 12 Subway Stations counted toward the score, the total number of confirmed locations is now (more accurately) at 766!

  • Update 4: 770 locations have been confirmed to count for users. What could this mean in terms of scoreboard discrepancy?

  • Update 3: Highest score is now 769! List updated to include 789 locations, but there is much uncertainty for some locations...

  • Update 2: Confirmed locations up to 762, with 768 total possible contenders listed. Who will be able to solve the mystery of the one missing street that so many people are stuck on?

  • Update 1: Added in links to available Encyclopedia entries. Updated notes regarding those entries.

    • Hi TomC, just got a response from the Team about possible bugs in the Leaderboards

      Hi Bob,
We are currently working on the leaderboards, and some irregularities may be apparent. This should be resolved soon.
      Araldia

So yeah it looks like we were probably correct, and especially since there seems to be so many different cases and combinations of things going wrong, I'd guess that theres either more than one bug in there or the bug is in a complicated bit of code and cant easily be debugged.

I think what we can probably take from this is, don't worry about it too much.

If you're currently trying to get all the location, you might want to wait a little while and try a different achievement.

If you're on 766, consider yourself to probably be the same rank as anyone on 767, or 769.

    • Thanks for this info... now I can just sit back and wait.
I think that just conferms the conclusion that most of us had already reached.
I'm pretty sure I need the impossible (for me), Back Alley and the other 2 to get to 769 must be, at this point, a bug.

    • I will be able to confirm if rooks museum counts *soon*..
;) I just did that quest and didn't visit other new places. So just waiting for leaderboard to refresh. What upsets me is that I'm 759 right now, did back alley and rooks wood, and I have only 7 races left unvisited. So without museum it will be only 766. And I visited everything for sure, everything from confirmed list. so why not 767 or even more?

    • Thanks for the info, SacredBob, looks like it's not really worth visiting all the residential areas. And yeah it's best to wait until everything is ironed out.

Thanks for the confirmation, Iskie Bae.

So they give the same experience as all other locations.

    • Frozen Jules, I'd forgotten that experience is tied to mood. I explored Naraka & posted before haivng coffee this morning.
Posted 12 years ago by Pearl Subscriber! | Permalink
    • Thanks for the info, Pearl and good point about the mood!

It seems like with Naraka, "Hell One" became a new place that counted, but if the old "Hell One' counted also, then any new player from now on will miss out on 1 point from the old "Hell One"?

    • Thanks for putting this together!

Also, a warning -- my office malware detector flags your site as infected with one or more virusus/scripts/etc., so you may want to run some sort of diagnostic software on the file or site in general...
Posted 12 years ago by confowsled Subscriber! | Permalink
    • Thanks for letting me know confowsled, that's really odd. The page is on dropbox.com, which is a very well-known and reputable site that millions of people use daily. I think your detector is probably detecting the jQuery script (which this particular one comes from Google's CDN). But I'm not using any js effects on that page so I'll try removing it and see if it still flags it. Other than that, this is just a plain HTML page with CSS styling.

    • With the newest Naraka region, the number of confirmed locations is now 775. Everyone's scores moved up 7 accordingly (after visiting all regions). So now 767's are stuck on 774 and 767's are stuck on 773. HarleyQuin is still 2 points ahead at 776, same as before.

    • I'm back from Rook's Woods!  Sorry it took so long -- i had a lot of streets to walk to get up to 502 in order to be on the cusp of the Wanderer badge!!  Whew, i'm tired.

So ... Rook's Woods totally counted for me.  I got my Wanderer badge at the same time i entered the Woods.  And i both kept scrupulous track of all the new streets i visited PLUS waited to make sure the leaderboard was accurate before i accepted the quest.  I'm just glad the quest still worked for me, even tho' it had been taken offline for re-tooling.

    • Does anyone know what happened to the Rook's Wood quest? Has it gone, I'm past level 7 and never got it.

I'm at 773 streets (joint 3rd on leaderboard), and that's the only one that's left on the list that I've not been to and might be the one I'm missing to bring me into joint 2nd. The list says this one might count, it's the only one I can think being the one I'm missing though.

    • Rook's Wood quest was withdrawn from the game because it's buggy.  Devs are working to fix it and bring it back.
Posted 12 years ago by WindBorn Subscriber! | Permalink
    • I believe Rook's Wood has been fixed. It sat in my log until about a week ago when it activated itself very suddenly and whooosh! There I was all flustered and nervous. Thankfully, I had some Exotic Juice in my inventory and was able to smash that egg the first try!

    • Maybe I'll get it at some point then.
I've helped fight rooks in game now though, so if it was any part of the story to explaining them, I might have ruined it for myself..

    • Wow thank you very much for your efforts and results, Wrdnrd! So Rook's Woods may be the answer for all those stuck at 773 (previously stuck at 766).

Thanks for the info, Rachel2635, I wonder if it did indeed came back after the recent return of real Rook attacks.

    • Someone may have mentioned this in the previous 4 pages, so I apologize if I'm offering up a suggestion that someone's already given...

Someone with some crazy algorithmic skillz should devise a set of directions so that you could get all the locations (or at least all of the ones known so far) in as short a time as possible.  It would be something like:

      1.  Start at Alpine Vista in Groddle Heights.
      2.  Set Yokel Yarn 6 as your destination on the map.
      3.  Walk to Yokel Yarn 6.
      4.  Set Tamota Trill as your destination on the map.
      and so on...

It would involve math skills higher than those I possess, but I'm sure someone out there is up to it...  :)

      Just a thought.

    • Actually, that's the Traveling Salesman Problem. Doing the travelling with no or few repeates in an efficent maner is a very difficult problem for which there are no great elegant solutions.

Also, it is currently even more difficult because the API doesn't provide the streets as coordinates meaning that the solution would have to be iterative through the API instead of downloading and pushing it through a route maker.

    • Fyxxen, did you visit The Back Alley before you went to get your papers from the Bureaucratic Hall? Perhaps you haven't visited "unnnn" (below the floor of the Mezzanine).

With confirmation of Rook's Woods and Rook Museum, there are now 777 confirmed locations, which means up to 3 locations could be glitched in not counting for everyone.
Posted 12 years ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
    • I'm one of those stuck at 773. :( I'm pretty sure all I'm missing is Rook's Wood. Do we know when it'll be available for the rest of us who have already passed level 7 ages ago? Are they slowly putting it in our quest queue? I hope so.

    • I'm wondering if the Interrogation room is still a location that gives you XP. It was during the beta...
Posted 12 years ago by Johnny Subscriber! | Permalink
    • I have some new results.
I made a second character, took her to the nearest street with a subway entrance then left her there for a few days. Yesterday she entered the subway, got sent to the Back Alley (which registered as 'first time here' plus xp), returned to subway and I logged off.
This morning she has 2 new streets registered, which proves that The Back Alley does count, and takes us back to step one as far as the subways are concerned!
Posted 12 years ago by Zira Subscriber! | Permalink
    • I've just reached 772 and now I'm stuck there. I never got a chance to do the Rook's Woods or the Back Alley quests (if I had maybe I'd be stuck at 774?). I'm not sure what else I could be missing at this point.

    • Anyone have a clue as to how to trigger the Back Alley? I submitted a bug report but was told it wasn't a bug. I've been stuck at 773 for ages and have narrowed the missing street to the Back Alley. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Posted 12 years ago by GreyGoose Subscriber! | Permalink
    • Wow Zira that's really interesting... previously when the Subways were removed, it made the total number of confirmed locations make much more sense. Thanks for the info on The Back Alley, looks like that's pretty well-confirmed now, unless there is still the issue of same locations not counting for everyone.

If the Subways were added back in, that would mean 777 + 12 = 789 confirmed locations, which is well over even HarleyQuin's 776. I have no idea what's happening now. Perhaps the Subways and Machine Room discrepancies also support the theory that locations are counting for some but not others.

Other scenarios may be that something was changed since Folderol found Subways didn't count, and then maybe Machine Rooms no longer count?
Posted 12 years ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
    • Rachel2635, there's unfortunately no way to trigger The Back Alley if you have already gotten the Card Carrying Qualification. The Back Alley was a quest before you sorted everything out at the Bureaucratic Hall. If you are past that part, there's no way to go back :(
Posted 12 years ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
    • Rachel, that's the same problem a lot of us have. Most players from beta didn't enter the subway because they knew they needed the papers, resulting in the lack of the quest that triggers on entrance.
I'm going to submit it as a bug report too; however much they don't consider it as such, the fact that I can't get a location on the leaderboards through a game flaw, IS, in my opinion, a bug.
Posted 12 years ago by Zira Subscriber! | Permalink
    • Tom, this evening I'll get Amarena her papers, then tomorrow (or the day after), once the new streets she'll have inevitably triggered have registered, I'll go back on the subway. From there I'm going to visit every station and see what happens.

    • Thanks, Tom and Zira, for demystifying the Back Alley mystery. Yes, I am long past the Card Carrying Qualification so I am sol as far as The Leaderboard goes. I guess from now on the current # 3 is the # 1 on my personal leaderboard. lol

And yes I agree, Zira, about the unfairness of including Backstreet Alley as part of the leaderboard tally when it excludes players because they did something out of order. I do not think any other street is programmed that way.

    • I've posted on the bugs forum, hoping for better feedback than I'd get from a bug report. Opinions are welcome.

    • Re: the Back Alley.  I'm hopeful that the Back Alley will show up again when we start needing permits for other things.  For example, eventually we'll need a party permit to use a party pack, so perhaps when someone tries to throw a party without a party permit they could be taken to the Back Alley.  I can just see so many ways the Back Alley could still be used in-game.

      Signed,
yet another beta tester who forgot completely about the Back Alley and just went straight to the Bureaucratic Hall to get her papers properly like a good citizen

As we are going to need a Party Permit to use the Party Packs in future: http://www.glitch.com/forum/general/9716/   requiring us to go to the Bureaucratic Hall it would surely be an opportunity missed if we cant be sent via the Back Alley to get them.

(go all the way right and jump down through the hole) You don't get xp for each new location but my status on the leaderboards went from 767 to 774 locations after I completed Naranka yesterday.

    • I joined Glitch on Sept 29th, and have since crisscrossed Glich in its entirety. BUT, I have not found the Rook Woods (I was never given that quest) or the Back Alley. I am also frustratingly stuck at 772 streets visited.
Just to be sure I didn't miss something,  I am going to revisit all of the places that count, but that I cannot remotely check if I have already visited via the encyclopedia ("unnnn," etc.). I'm almost positive that I've already gotten them all, but just in case... off I go.

However, if I have already gotten to all of them, then that means that both the Rook Woods and the Back Alley count and that people in my position cannot get any higher on the leaderboards without the help of the Gods/Devs. .. may they take pity on our souls...

    • The list mentions Hell One twice. Once under Naraka and a second time under Other. Not sure if it's also counted twice in the grand total.

    • Onicoe - I just wanted to point out something that you mentioned about Naraka: While it's true that you don't get any XP, there's a difference there. Technically you get 0xp, which sounds like splitting hairs, but it's the only set of locations where this is the case. If you look in the Local Chat when you go to each new location in Naraka, that's where you see that you get 0xp, as opposed to the top right corner of the loading screen.

I took a screenshot of this occurrence that I could upload as proof if necessary.
Posted 12 years ago by Folderol Subscriber! | Permalink
    • I think that the reason you don't receive xp from the new locations in Hell, is because when you're there, your energy and mood are too low.  When they are low, actions will yield less (or possibly no) xp points
Posted 12 years ago by Super Jeebs Subscriber! | Permalink
    • Sigh. Every time things seem to get clearer, some new information complicates things again.
If Jeebs is at 774 and hasn't Back Alley, then maybe it's the second Hell that's now counting extra? I'm considering giving up ^^
Posted 12 years ago by Zira Subscriber! | Permalink
    • When I went to Hell 1 the first time, it counted.  And when I died to visit Naraka for the new streets, it counted again.

Does Hell 2 still exist now that Naraka is big enough for all of the lost?

I still think my problem is The Back Alley.  And Nylon Phool - anybody want to have a party?
Posted 12 years ago by Ida Keen Subscriber! | Permalink
    • I'm 99.999% sure Hell One counted previously. I was at 760 streets when the max was 762. I visited 2 places, the magical stoot shrine and hell and went up to 762. Those were the only places I visited that day outside of normal streets.

The explanation could be since they redid the zone that the street counts as a new street entirely?
