'You'

Could we have the option to show our character name, rather than just 'You', in chat?

  • 'You' was certainly a little off-putting the first time I saw it, but, I got over it pretty quickly.

  • i felt as yeoz did, and like him i don't mind "you" now.

    of course, i wouldn't mind my username there either. "you" isn't really any better or worse.

  • So, I like looking through ancient threads, and I stumbled across this one.

    Thought it was interesting. My 2c is that You is better, because there's no name duplicate filter (i.e. there are 3 Cupcakes) so if you were playing with another Cupcake (or in other people's cases, striatic, yeoz, etc) it could get confusing.

    What do y'all think?

  • "you" doesn't bother me at all.

    I thought I read that duplicate names wouldn't be allowed once we went live.  Can you confirm?

  • People with 'You' in the name (such as player 'Young Leek') used to get shown as red!

    Having 'You' doesn't bother me. But what does bother me is that 'you're' and 'your' get shown as red in every mention in Local Chat notifications... just the first mention of 'you're/your/you' should be red IMO.

  • Haha, Tingly... the other day I was watching Global Chat and thinking that we'll all be screwed when someone named "You" comes along.

    Personally, I don't have any problem with the current use of pronouns; however, I will be annoyed when there are thousands of people named "Cupcake."
