I think there should be a place in Ur where you can find a dead horse and the only action is to beat it.

- In the interest of preventing cruelty to animals, it could be a dead saw-horse, and we could craft them ourselves out of a tin ingot and some planks. You could put it in your yard like a gnome and program it with a few phrases to say when beaten, such as "this street is PUBLIC", and "I can do what I want!" and "Playing Glitch is all about having fun!"

+1 glitchillion to papa legba - I would totally beat on dead horses. You could use the dead horse to provide glue which then you can glue together new furniture stuffs!

Perhaps it wouldn't REALLY be dead - just resting.
(Then comes the watering & feeding & petting contingent loudly opposed to the beaters & reapers!)

Dead pommel horse, beat it enough and you get its head which you can then put in people's beds.
Of course to make this more worthwhile it'd also drop string and general fabric. But I think people would like the head more.
Perhaps you could wear it as a hat. -

What if the dead horse was a renewable resource like the other home street items? One day someone delivers a smack and it collapses in a heap until it's rebuilt.

Though I have only ever heard the more common 'to flog a dead horse'. I prefer flog as it isn't as violent-y sounding.
Interestingly to flog or beat a dead horse used to mean getting paid for work in advance before the modern meaning. Don't know how you could work that into the game schematic.
Personally I would like them to be sea horses - the stallion of the sea
We could use their tails as lasso's to capture things (and people). Keep things in their stomach pouches, ride them, etc.
RL sea horses make musical sounds when they mate, again, don't know how you would work that into the game "You allowed Papa Legba's sea horse to hump your leg. You receive 1500iMG". - I thought dolphins were the ones being flogged?
- Flogging is only less violent if you're not doing it right.

I also want my dead saw-horse to be of a different color.
A saw-horse I can craft myself, and stick fibers on for a mane and tail, and attach a note to outlining my pet peeve of the day. It should have little sewn button Xs for eyes. Oh, and I'll need a wood rod to smack it with.
I want to put it on my street where others can take a whack at it too, if they want. Every now and then a random whack should generate a piñata's worth of candy.
That'll make us ALL want to horse around, amirite? Horse-play for EVERYONE!
