Do not Disturb!

Sometimes when I am in my house I would just like to potter without having to communicate with the outside world.  I wish there could be some way that i could either appear offline when in my house or have a do not disturb sign of some sort.

That makes me sound antisocial (I am not  very) but sometimes when I only have a few minutes I would like to get on with things undisturbed.

  • I was just about to request something similar.  A "temporary lockdown" mode as it were, so that even keyholders can't come into your house for a short time.  I don't want to revoke keys since I love my keyholders;  I just want to be guaranteed time alone if I need it.

  • Why not make your gnome say something to the effect that you need some alone time? You can have multiple messages your gnome can know can't you. I think you should be able to switch them too.

  • I hate gnomes.  They never speak until they're almost off the screen, then when I go back to see what they say, I could stand there for hours and they just stand there and utterly refuse to talk out of sheer stubbornness.  Then when I walk away, they'll start shouting at me gain once I'm almost out of earshot!

I prefer a way to, maybe not lockdown, but just hop online, care for my piggies, garden and RHK machines, and log back off without having to worry about someone wanting to stop and chat when they see me online.  I have blessed little time to actually play, even less now with the start of school year.  Sometimes I need to get in and get out without being noticed.

  • Agreed, as ever and always. A second-best option would be an 'afk' setting so that people wouldn't expect a response right away. Would also love a home security system that allows me to 'deadbolt' my house as PQ suggests above. I also love my keyholders, but sometimes I'm just not up for instant appearances in my home. :)

  • +1 I like this idea, but sometimes I want to do more than just stay in my house when I don't have enough time to socialize. Some games provide a "stealth" mode at login, and maybe there could be a checkbox under "enter the world" to continue to show you as offline.

Or I suppose we could have a feature like Skype does where you can set your status explicitly.

  • Hmmn, seems like it would be a popular and useful feature.

  • Is stealth mode workable in the world?  I can see it working in house and rear yard, possibly home street.

    Would you be invisible?

  • Yes. Slash DND please.

  • Maybe a setting on our butlers?  Players who whisper a player with DND set on their butler would get a whisper back from the butler. "This is Ethel, Lucille Ball's butler.  Lucille Ball is not taking calls right now."

  • Lucille - that would be great mechanic to implement this request.  Similarly, if you knocked on (or even as a keyholder, tried to enter) someone's door, the butler could announce in local, "I'm sorry, but Scarlett is not at home to visitors right now."
