I have never gotten to touch a salamander, but that does sound cool! Haha, I just wrote whatever animals came to my mind. :) Ok, so, is a sable actually an animal or is it a color?? I thought it was possible a rodent type critter, but I thought it could be just a color and not an animal.

Sables are animals, similar to weasels, ferrets & otters - they have a lot ot fur, so they can be used as adornments(minus the live animal...) They tend to be black in colour

if you live near a creek or pond/lake, you might see them nearby. I used to find them under the plants that lined a creek I hiked along in California. Here, in Oregon, they are probably everywhere but I usually see them near the lake along the trail and in the water. If you see one, pick it up gently and let it stand on your hand! Just don't be my boyfriend, they almost always poop on his hand. I dunno why, bad timing I guess!!

I'm from the Mitten (aka Michigan :) ), not sure if we have a lot of salamanders - or where they're most common if we do have some. There's a lake in my neighborhood, but I've never seen one down there.

Just don't touch them too much--they breathe through their skin, don't they?
