Postcards from Ur, a celebration of Glitch scenery!
Hey Glitchens :)
I started a new little project called Postcards from Ur. It's a blog that'll publish once or twice a day, a landscape from the lovely land of Ur. The Art of the game has always been really amazing, but lately the new regions and seam streets have been positively gorgeous... And I wanted to celebrate the best vistas of the world.
And perhaps one day there'll be a tourist route passing through all the Marvels of Ur? For now though, it's only postcards :)
I accept suggestions : take gorgeous snaps and link them in this thread, or send them through the tumblr blog, and I'll publish them (if they are truly awesome). Tip: use the zoom to make wider snaps!

Abandoned Apartment - Those are brilliant photos! But most postcards don't have people in them. You should try a less crowded street and take the image.

Would it be possible, maybe, to have people directly upload images to the site? As in downloading to their computer and upload, or if possible, just leave a link there and the site will take the snap through the link automatically?
And perhaps, a bigger weekly/monthly/biweekly thing, where there's a Tourist's Pick (all people can vote for the postcard they like best) and a Editor's Pick? :D -

I use a queue so the publishing is regular...
AwesomeCardinal : Yes, I'm trying to avoid images with too many people.. 2 or 3 is the max... And only if the scenery is nice. I won't publish snaps with lots of people, or snaps whose subject is what people are doing :)
Palindrome : People can directly send pictures through the Submit button : postcards-from-ur.tumblr.com/submit or you can just send a link and I make the snap or something like that :)
For the periodical edition, that's a very good idea, first we have to see how the project works... perhaps you want to join the advisory board? -

However, much as I like the sceneries in the ones posted already in the blog, I too believe that they would be better without people. I think I could only accept people if they were silhouettes, in a place like Umbra for example. But maybe that's just me!

I think, while it's still called Postcards of Ur, should also include pictures of events, and more people/social things. Special events, parties, a memoir of Glitchen community. Perhaps, if possible, a different section of the site can be dedicated to that. I don't have a Tumblr, but I'm guessing, it's sorta limited to what things you can do on it. A section for landscapes/postcards, events, and possibly some others would be nice. Like Special, Houses, and as I said before, Tourist's and Editor's Pick.
Really, I think this should encompass ALL special, snaps. Those who have the special essence of pictureperfect.

I took a series of subway pics when I was working on a subway badge if you are interested in public transportation postcards. :) Awhile ago there were rumors that the subway might be removed from Ur so I wanted pics.

Dinsdale : yes, I'm thinking more and more about this, and I feel the spirit of the project is to have amazing scenery with as little people interaction as possible...

Palindrome : Ah well, in my mind it's more about the nature and environment they made for the game... Perhaps a Photo Album from Ur would be better for all the special events and parties to record (I know I have some great screen captures of old EotW parties), so I think perhaps another tumblr would be great for that... the themes aren't exactly similar after all... and of course I'd link it from Postcards from Ur as a sort of ______ from Ur network ! That would be awesome :D
Ooola : aah, thanks... Of course the project can be used to document the various stages of the evolution of Ur, it'll become a cherished memory to see the snaps of the subways :) - PS: everyone, if you have awesome ideas don't hesitate to drop in the conversation :)
