I came across this article today and thought it might be of some interest to those trying to understand what happened here. IGN has identified fifty-five studios which have closed or had significant lay-offs in 2012, and the article highlights twenty of them. Even people who haven't played many other games may recognize names like Hudson Soft, creators of Bomberman.
