On the true meaning of "until the end of the year" (i.e., we're not closing the site just yet)
It appears that there's some anxiety around this portion of our closing announcement:
"The website and forums will remain available until the end of the year..."
Totally understandable, by the way, as it is actually "the end of the year" today! However, let us not ignore this portion of the very same announcement:
"We will notify all account holders by email of the site's closure in advance of that date."
Good news! We have not notified you by email of the site's closure because we're still not ready to close the site. Also, we're totally not working today. Save up your goodbyes for a later date, and we'll give you ample warning before you need to use them for real.
Happy new year, Glitchen! May you all have a wonderful 2013.

- Thank you for this, so very, very much, my dear TS! I was just thinking that "Should auld aquaintance be forgot..." had such a terribly sad, sad meaning for me this year, and a celebration would be half-hearted at best. So thank you for keeping things going for us awhile longer so that we don't have to associate it with the New Year. For those of you that have lost family members around the holidays (and not to be melodramatic, but that is just almost how I feel about losing Glitch - except that I lost myself - won't even go into the crazy convolutions about that), you know exactly what I mean - you never really feel the same about the holiday again. So, forgive my rambling, and please accept my heartfelt thanks for keeping things going a little longer for those of us that are having a hard time letting go. And yes, Happy New Year to all of you there at TS wherever you are in the world, and know that I wish all the best for all of you in your future endeavors! p.s. (((LP))) for letting us know! :')

Yay! Happy New Year! I am babysitting for my brother this holiday, and so I am just a tad sad not to have Glitch to hang out in, this however is awesome.
I remember New Years on the Dragon Head last year and it was bonkers and glittery. I miss it. - *flails around like Kermit* Yay!!
