So what webcomics should I read?

I'm a big fan of the geek humour comics like xkcd, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal and The Oatmeal.

Also enjoy Questionable Content - reasonably geeky, funny, nicely drawn, interesting characters and plotlines.

Also enjoying Hyperbole And A Half & Dilbert.

So what else should I be reading?

  • I love Hyperbole & a Half, wish it updated more frequently. Other comics I read are:
    Gunnerkrigg Court
    Hark! A Vagrant
    Lackadaisy Cats
    Stuff No One Told Me
    Templar, AZ
    The Creatures in My Head

  • The Intrepid Girlbot, The Zombie Hunters (kind of uneven- goes from anime-ish to Walking-Dead-like... prefer the latter aspect of it), and... AXE COP!

  • The Abominable Charles Christopher. Just won an Eisner, and surely did deserve to.

  • Looking for Group
    Order of the Stick
Darwin Carmichael is Going to Hell
    Basic Instructions
    Octopus Pie
    Romantically Apocalyptic

Those vary from strange to extremely strange. Romantically Apocalyptic is bizarre, but I am HOOKED. Can't wait until the next one. IMHO, Looking for Group is one of the best webcomics out there.

  • Ranging from nerdy to dorky to just plain weird, I like all of these.
    Sinfest
    Two Lumps
    A Softer World
    Calamities of Nature
    Subnormality
    Least I Could Do

  • +1 to Sheepy's suggestion of Hark, A Vagrant (hee hee hee...glam castle...)
    and
+1 to Djabriil's suggestion of AXE COP!

I am so going to check out everyone else's suggestions as well.

  • Oh! Some great recommendations cropping up. Thanks so much.

Whilst investigating these, I stumbled across The Non-Adventures of Wonderella - which is also fun.

Axe Cop! I'd totally forgotten about that. Still going!  :-)

I should have added, if a comic's RSS feed doesn't display correctly in Google Reader then the chances of me reading it regularly become rather slim.

  • Subnormality is one of my favorites. So amazingly wordy, but I'm always impressed by Winston's philosophical debates.

  • Snazzlefrazz, I used to be the same way re:rss. Then I discovered the comic slurper.

  • Subnormality, yess! At first glance it looks like a snarkfest but when you read into it it turns out to be surprisingly humble.

    Also important: Hark, A Vagrant!

  • Dinosaur Comics - and +1 to all mentions of Hark, A Vagrant!

  • +1 to Dinosaur Comics and A Softer World. And Dr. McNinja, which is great but I read less frequently.

  • Sporadically updating, but seriously wonderful when it does: 2d Goggles.

  • For those whose tastes run to Victorian-flavored surrealism -
    Wondermark

  • +1 to greyn's suggestion of Wondermark. I have this one as a print. Because it's scarily true.

  • Axe cop is amazing thanks for the post about it

  • The two that I watch religiously that haven't been mentioned yet:

    Theater Hopper
Hit and miss comic about popular movies.

    Surviving the World
Observational humor. Mainly just pictures of a guy and his blackboard. Mostly hilarious. Definitely geeky.

  • Sheepy - nice find with the comic slurper... looks like I can even take the output of that as an RSS feed. Hmmmm.... I feel a plan hatching.

Quirk - oh... loving Surviving The World.

seem particularly appropriate to Glitch :-)

  • I would feel remiss if I didn't recommend the excellent Dresden Codak. Great art style, awesome world-building, and his current main character is a half-cyborg tech genius. It's pretty amazing. I'd start with this comic to get into his work:

    The Hob #1

Another truly excellent online graphic novel is "Rice Boy". It would be one of the best books I've ever read, if it were a book:

  • My main suggestions have already been suggested, but I'll add Scary Go Round/Bad Machinery. Although it's more serialized than most of what you mentioned, I think you'd enjoy both the stories and the art.

  • Amy Pond - how brilliant is it that I clicked on your link, and one of the characters is named "Lem"! That's perfick! :D
