How do I insert a link?

Dear seasoned geeks,

When I insert a link in the forum it looks all URL ugly. When y'all do it it just says concisely what the link is. How do I pertify my link insertion to be up to par? BTW I have Windows, IE.

  • Write the words (not the URL).

Select the words you want the link to include.

Click the link button on the top of the text field (the one with the + sign). It will open a small dialog box.

Write or paste the URL in the dialog box and click OK.

  • OK I have been working on this for WAY too long. I do not have a text box anywhere and certainly no + sign and no cute little chain-link button. I searched all of Microsoft and Windows and IE help sites and they seem to circle back and point fingers at eachother for people asking similatr questions.

I reset IE, I reinstalled IE, I reloaded, I am about to pour a Pepsi on the keyboard and see what that does.

When I try to insert a link it looks like this:

    answers.microsoft.com/en-us...

Ewww. I copied it from the browser and hit paste in this Glitch window.

  • If you don't see the buttons like they appear in the image linked by Millie, maybe you see a little grey button with "CSS" written in it? If so, click that button, and the others will appear.

I don't know, but maybe there is some compatibility issues with a certain version of IE. IE6? If nothing of the above works for you, maybe you could download Firefox or Chrome, or the latest IE, and try one of these?
