My grandmother's name

Rather than prolong a certain thread, I thought I would start another one here, after reading about titmice and fannies. Because I just have to tell someone that--no word of a lie--my grandmother's maiden name was:
Fanny Bush.

Yes, really.

Actually, it was Fanny Agnes Bush (how F.A.B. is that?!).

P.S. This thread totally doesn't need to continue, or be replied to, but I just had to put this out there.

So, yup. Fanny Bush. For realsies.

    Enid Audrey and Stella Valerie

When I was doing my family tree I came across two names that just made me wish they were characters in a story and one (Marmaduke Pickering) was the hero and the other (Charles Herbert Ironmonger) was his arch nemesis.

  • My grandmother's and grandfather's first names together meant "strange" if you loosely translate it from Vietnamese to English.

  • My Beppe's real name is Hotske..
But she anglicized it to Hottie and had a license plate that says Hottie on it.

It's funny to see other people's reactions when they see a little old woman getting out of the car.

  • *sigh* my parents' names sound like "chicken bun" if you pronounce them together and say them wrong...

  • My mom and her brother were complete products of 50's nicknaming.  Real names Betty and Robert.  Nicknames Bunny and Butch.  I still call my uncle Butch, but almost everyone else in the family has reverted to calling him Bob.

  • Wah! I can't think of any funny names in my family!

I mean, apart from the worn-out "Hamburger" for "Habegger."

  • My mum is Anh, I'm Ariane, my sister is Aurelie. I have a cousin once removed called Arielle and another called Aveline. I was heartbroken when the next was named Evangeline.
