Nerf nerfed?

As a child, I seem to remember Nerf products to be harder, but I just played with some and they were very soft.

I'm upset.

• Seems like even the plastic is softer anymore... I don't know why they had to mess with a good thing.

• Totally random and only vaguely on-topic, but my parents were friends with some of the Nerf-y folks, and they gave us a huge mess of nerfed (misproduced/damaged in some fashion) Nerf balls, mostly yellow and green with some orange thrown in for good measure. All about the size of a softball. And yeah, they were definitely throw-able, and you'd notice when they bonked you in the head. None of this arguing about whether someone actually noticed the dang thing hit you or not and whether it "counted."
  
  We set up walls and forts... they made for some amazing wars. Best. Trash. EVAR.
