I agree wholeheartedly! I could have invited my hubby, and he would have accepted, but he would never have become a subscriber, and likely would only have logged in when I wanted him to help me with something.

I was starting to lean this way today and then I forgot to respond. I used hindsight to think I would have acted differently but I can't know that. I could have known that there was trouble just by the act of them asking us to "play" by inviting and facebooking. Really, you couldn't see that, Minkey? I dunno, I just know I'm not a big facebooker anyway. But, would any of us acting differently with the feat-invite have actually made enough of a dent? Or, as you say dear Kastlin, would the dents have stayed and grown or just kind of been there only to forget about an adorable game that our sweetheart or friend likes? My guess is that maybe one fried would have loved the game but not had the time as she is finishing up her doctorate. One would have loved that I loved the game. One would have insisted we go walk the dogs instead, "oh, come on, it's so nice out." One would have smiled and thought that well, if it isn't metroid, why are you telling me about it? One still would insist that video games take up too much time to bother with... And it goes on. Still, I'd like to think I would have tried harder had I realized the severity of the reasoning behind that feat.
