Are you a TED.com fan? I am! For those who may not be familiar with it, here is the description of what TED is from the website:
TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer -- TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
The website posts a new talk every day, each under 18 minutes. Anytime I need a lift or feel sad about the state of our world, I go to TED and my belief in humanity is restored.
It's really impossible to isolate a favorite when it's the best of the best in so many areas of study and thought, but just to get us started I thought I'd post these 4 very different but wonderful talks. I hope you enjoy them and I look forward to watching your favorites.
