You can lower the shelf so it seems the bottom of the icons on top are right above the ones below it.

I use the oyster mushroom shelves and the icons look great on them.

thanks my friend ;) I will check that .. i did mess about with the positioning of the shelf. to try to drop the top-most one- to just over the middle one - but it wasn't too co-operative.. maybe i am just tired.wwaaayyy past my bedtime .. ;) good night ;)

Make a pyramid with 1 icon on a small wooden shelf (http://www.glitch.com/furniture/small-wooden-shelf/) at the top and then 2 more small wooden shelves with two icons on each underneath, and then 2of the big wooden wall shelves (http://www.glitch.com/furniture/wooden-wall-shelf/) with 3 on each to make the the base of the pyramid ala:

I think the icons were designed to sit on the floor and therefore have a perspective issue that makes them not work with flat shelves. I cover the area in front of the icons with silver tongue flowers to hide the bottom edge.

Cleops- i did actually come your same idea on my own (plus i recall seeing i think people stack shelves over a counter) . and am in progress to much about with it now ;) will post pics for you all to critique as soon as i am done . ;)
