Larger transmogrifying batches not always available -- bug, or on purpose?

After getting the upgrade card for the larger transmogrifying batches (for spices, gases, etc.) I have noticed something interesting.

If I make, for example, laughing gas straight from the gassifyer menu, I have the option to make 30 at a time (yay!).  But if I am making fruit tree beans, and I make more laughing gas from inside the fruit tree bean menu, I can only make 20 at a time.

The same thing is true with the spices -- 75 at a time from inside the spice grinder menu, only 50 at a time from inside a tree bean (or other multi-itemed) menu.

Is this on purpose, TS?  If so, why?  It's not a huge deal, but it means I don't create from inside the other menus anymore, it takes too long.  Which is a bit of a pain, having to jump around in and out of other menus.
