Closed the window in one location, came back and went to hell while loading the game
Started loading in my house where I was when I left last time, and in the middle of the loading screen it switched to loading in hell. Then I got the window that it was a new day and my energy refilled (as it had rolled over when I was away and technically still alive). However, now that I was in hell, it didn't fill me up. I did get the message and window showing my health and mood filling up though, but it didn't actually happen.
