Frozen when given badge

I used a signpost to travel to a new area (Lem Hill). When I got there, I got a badge (Junior Explorer). However, I could no longer move or dismiss the messages about the badge. I could still see other players moving around.
Refreshing the browser (IE 8) returned me to Lem Hill and I could move around as expcted.
