all chats reload on entering the game again

All chats I had since start of the game will now open when I enter the game again.
(OSX Chrome regular and Chrome Canary).
All private chats and all group chats are open - so this is a list of over 50 chats now, even with people not logged in.
Closing the chats won't help.
