Where does one find eggs?

I'm sure this is dumb. I've sorted out cheese and spices and that sort of thing, but I'm totally confused about where to get eggs (as needed in Eggs 'n' Basics). Are they the same as 'chicken egg'? If they are, can I get them some other (cheaper) way then purchasing them for 200 currants each? do they come out of the in game chickens somehow? Thanks for any help.

• oh. Are they just around? I've been to a few dozen places and haven't noticed them. Perhaps I'm not paying attention. Thanks for your assistance.

• certain areas have special egg trees. keep looking.

• Egg trees only grow underground. Look in the areas in the west part of Groddle Forest and in the northern parts of Groddle Meadows.

• Egg plants only grow underground, so you'll have to look there :)
  
  Best place is the Northwest corner of Groddle Forest.
