That is a very useful shot for me, thank you! It seems that I am on the right track. Still not sure how I'm going to make the stripes on those fins, though. Right now, it's looking like paint, but if I could find already patterned fabric of something, that'd be best. Oh, ooh! Bleach?
I think bleach would be better than paint, you wouldn't get the added weight on the fabric. Take care though: not all colors bleach to white. Some bleach to red or yellow.

Went up that "ladder" and realized what a great shot of the headdress that was, went back and took the snap.
comet cleanser in a squeeze bottle or the bleach "pen", those will do a great job of bleaching for stripes! I used to use the comet squeezy stuff back when I was a kid, for my jeans and we used the bleach pen recently with stencils to draw on sweatshirts. I guess I haven't grown up yet!
