A new players guide to the trade channel, trading and locating resources.

If you are a new player to Glitch, welcome! - This guide will explain trading in Glitch and the trade channel, as well as provide you with information that will help you find items and resources that you are looking for!

If you are a more experienced player please post if you have something helpful to contribute, I will edit and add to this main post regularly if it is needed.

The guide -

The trade channel:

When entering the trade channel you get this message - "Hello! This is the trade channel! This channel is for trading chat only. Other conversations should happen elsewhere! Buyers come first, sellers, no spamming. Still, be funny and creative." This message is not just here for show, you should follow it, inappropriate behaviour will often result in people blocking you and in some severe cases you being reported.

When you are looking for a deal please think it through first - giving as many details as possible helps firstly to make it easier for other people using the channel understand what you are looking for and also keeps trade chat from being filled with un-needed chat, If you get no replies, do not repost your request straight away, be patient and leave it a while before you do, a good frequency to repeat your request is once every 30 mins - 1 hour.

Trading tips:

The first thing that you should do before trying to establish a trade is gather information - one of the first places you should do this, especially if you are selling an item is at a vendor in Ur, I suggest the tool vendor in Cebarkul - this vendor has a base buyback rate of 75% and often if you ask nicely, a higher level player will gladly take you there.

Alternatively you could use this price guide - http://glitchium.com/data/vendor-price/

After checking vendor prices, you should look into the player market -

The auctions are a place many players might suggest you look - but take into consideration that these prices are generally higher than average because players price for convenience of the sale and to include a tax rate of 7% - I do not suggest using this as a newer player unless you have previous auction experience.

A lot of players use their tower as a shop and you can find almost every item in the game - These prices are set the PLAYER - but you can generally find every item you need by using 3rd party sites, these include;

http://www.glitchremote.com (I personally recommend this its simple and easy to use)

http://glitchmarket.com/

Finding resources:

All resources can be found scattered around Ur, some on streets, others are sold only by vendors - To determine which resource is located where you can use external resources like the the Glitch wiki - http://www.glitch-strategy.com/wiki/Glitch_Wiki - But for those that are available on home streets there are often things that we call "Routes" you can find these at these sites;

http://resources.grelca.com/

http://seriousroutes.com/

You can even use Glitch remote (The link is mentioned earlier in this post) to find resources on peoples home streets and in Ur.

Information mode:

Pressing the i key puts you into information mode, when you use this it will make the screen blue and allow you get information about everything that your Glitch can currently see, just clicking on it will bring up a window with details, it also brings up a search bar where you can search for items that you can not see.

While in Ur, after searching for an item or resource and bringing up the information window it will show its location OR the name of the vendor that sells that item, when clicking on the vendor it will then show you where the nearest one can be located and clicking "set as destination" will give you directions to it.

Also at the bottom of the information window for most items there is a "find sellers" tab down at the bottom of the screen, clicking on this will show you a list of players selling that item in their towers and on the auction, clicking on the hyper-link of the players name will bring up their info, allowing you to visit their home street.

Furniture:

Furniture is made and sold by other players and is not featured on any website, it is however included in the auctions.

Here is a list (Thank you armi for providing this) of the base price and average selling price of furniture. (Ignore the 3rd column for this guide that is the price that armi buys furniture from her suppliers)

Furniture is subject to players individual pricing and can vary a lot.

Some players also sell credit furniture - The average price for this is often the cost of the plain furniture plus 1000c per credit, again this price varies and is set by the individual seller.

Some players add extra for free for subscriber upgrades too, although there are many players who are willing to do this for no extra costs.

Here is a complete list of all upgraded furniture and its cost in credits;

I hope that you find this guide useful and enjoy your time in Glitch! Thank you for reading!

  • In terms of locating resources could you also please put something about the often forgotten but very awesome i for information mode and briefly how to use it.

    Including for items (as opposed to resources) how to detect and set your destination to the nearest vendor and also the sellers tab.

    Where's Kadi with one of her handy global cut and paste's when we need her:) Thanks

  • Thanks for the info mode add:)

    As you mentioned, for furniture the price varies A LOT per seller.

     At the moment, due to furniture in towers not being able to be detectable (except note poles sold in SDB's) via Glitchremote people are using a few resources to locate furniture stores:

    Furniture shops route (Uses fourth sign)
    Tower Furniture Showrooms group
    1k per credit sellers list (also incl. free sub, base sellers and custom makers)
    Auction House

    Of course Trade Channel is great for bargains. My only advice for people new to the game and looking for furniture is do your research and make sure you get a fair price. So shop around.

    For anyone new to the game here is a glossary we were working on a while ago if you're having problems with abbreviation's people are using for things.
