Don’t post private stuff you don’t wish to share with ALL of the world, avoid games and applications, just communicate in the groups – and the Fb experience can be somewhat bearable. ;)

Thanks for the advice! I have been at FB for many years and find it more unbearable now that ever (sigh). There are a lot of "updates" and "likes" on my site that I have nothing to do with and can find no way to stop. I am especially angry about the "Likes" for ads that I have not even seen much less "Liked". I have stopped liking anything but comments by Friends as a result. I don't even "Like" photos that come from some commercial site even if I do like them and they are posted by friends.

You might want to try to go through your privacy settings. I’m hesitant to say that the stuff you describe shouldn’t happen, as we ARE talking about Disgracebook and I’ve configured my profile to be paranoid and restrictive about what can be done without me explicitly giving permission for it. But it can be done with a little work. Drop me a line if you need more detailed advice on setting it up. :)

I check the privacy settings almost daily. The things that annoy me the most seem to have no option to turn off. Some of the things that are "off" don't seem to stay that way. I recently clicked one option, hoping to turn the thing off and instead the click just had me "Like" it - Lol!

I am mainly on Google+ although I am under no pretence that I have more privacy there, but I just don't get all the ads, people's likes/friends with etc crap. AI am only on facebook for my family really who wont change. I found facebook more bearable by getting rid of the timeline when I view facebook (as far as others are concerned they see me with a timeline). I call it FarceBook, I have called it much worse.

I'm getting some great synonyms for Facebook here: Disgracebook, FarceBook ... then there's FailBook. I have refused to do FB at all, in spite of family pressures. Also, did you all hear what they tried to do with InstaGram? (they own that now, too) One day later, they had to update the policy because of how many people were deleting their accounts. "Yo, FailBook!! We are not all simple sheep!! A whole bunch of us are bellwethers!!"
