Conversations with a Newbie
My best friend joined this game during the failed feat of inviting people and he has enjoyed the game much more than he expected.
Since I have been playing for almost a year there are things that I have forgotten were new or scary. Some of his observations and beliefs have had me cracking up.
He said he didn't mind, so I will post some of our conversations here.

- Lol! Thanks! Here's one that really cracked me up. I waited outside the Ministry for my newb friend to get her card carrying papers. She seemed to be in there a long time. When she came out I asked if she got the papers, "No, I drank some water."

- I love it. It's good to remember what it was like to be New. There are a number of things that can be confusing. We may laugh but if we were new now I wonder what we would do?
- These made me giggle. I remember empty water cups littered all over the land. Funny now but drove me nuts back then. :D

When we got the clubhouse quest through the butler, I made sure to tell favrerocks to “talk to his butler.”
favrerocks: I saw the butler, then Im'ed him, "Hi, I think you're doing a great job."
favrerocks: The butler said, "Hi" in response, but I think he meant it like "Hi..."
favrerocks: Then I thought that was pretty embarrassing.
Empyreal: Wait what is the difference between Hi and Hi...
favrerocks: The second is a bit apprehensive
Empyreal: But then later didn't you get the link to that quest?
favrerocks: Yes, I did
favrerocks: That's when I figured out that I was an idiot. -

favrerocks: I feel like I'm living at a hotel at my place, everything is in bags. - These are great! The conversations that stem from Glitchy sayings are unreal. Somewhere there is a thread about "stuff I never thought I would ever hear" which is stuff like "get away from my guano"; "do you think a pizza is a good trade for a purple flower" and other bizarre phrases that only make sense in the world of UR. If anyone can find that thread please link it.
- This reminds me of when that guy did a blog about watching the final season of LOST without ever having watched a single episode.

I think they're doing okay! I only realized yesterday that I could interact with things just by pressing enter. Man, do I feel stupid for getting pissy with the mining gangs getting in my way during the Sparkly feat.
For me it's only been a bit over a month, but it feels like it's been a year. @A@ - Enter is a good thing to know. As a "Mouse person" I often forget the keyboard actions. Most of them make things so much easier to do. The "i" will give you a list of keyboard shortcuts. Very useful!

Here's my problem with jumping (and hence this game):
(20 years ago, my buddy's son, trying to teach me Mario Brothers): See that thing that's not there? Jump on it.
Me: But I don't see that thing that's not there, by definition.
Him: No, it's there.
Me: I hate this. Let's play Madden. - @ faverocks - I have had the same view on Jumping but after almost two years and some upgrades I am starting to change my opinion.
