T.S How does the SB-1 Musicblock drop in game?
TELL US FINALLY :D

Yeah but is a dim chance, is like winning the lottery or hitting the jackpot on a Casino, is designed to be like that otherwise it would not be a rare item.
Every mechanic that has "chance" as his main component and that chance is higher than 100:1 you are looking at a VERY VERY VERY RARE chance to get the prize... and this one is 833:1
Lets take your 100.000+ patches dug proposal and break it down to look at the odds:
1.- Lets say 2.000 players dug 100.000+ patches.
2.- How many patches every player dug? I am sure I had dug 4 patches in the year I´ve been playing Glitch, some may have dug only one, others 20 or more... how many players dug 100? or 200?... but I digress, this means that most of the players have only dug a limited ammount of patches, meaning their chances are minimal and just pure dumb luck will give them a SB-1.
3.- Lets say 100 players really wanted to dig 833 patches... and we are again in my scenario, for every patch you roll a 834 sided dice on the hope of hitting that one side that has the SB-1. There is a chance, a real chance, a matemathical chance that NONE of them ever land that face.
I know, statistics are counterintuitive but it works that way.
... oh, and all of this if the chance of getting the SB-1 from digging a patch is real.
-
If 100,000 patches have been dug, and the SB-1 shows up with a 1/833 chance, the probability that it would never show up is (832/833)^100,000. This comes out to about 6.8*10^-53, or 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000068%. Possible, but extremely unlikely.
-
The math shown here is just...astoundingly awful.
The main percentage of chance here is 0.12% If 100,000 patches are dug, then the percentage does not change. And it is not that rare either, especially considering it is still in the tenth of a percent.
-
The percentage of it showing up on any given dig would still be 0.12%. the 6.8*10^-53 is the chance that if 100,000 patches were dug, no blocks would show up. I'm not saying that that is the chance that the 100,001st patch would not have one. What I am saying is that given the exceedingly small chance that 100,000 patches would fail to produce a musicblock, something about the assumption that any dig has a 1/833 chance is probably faulty. Perhaps, as Sev said, it only rolls on a certain street, which would make this task much harder.

You all participated in the feat and got your SB-1, right? RIGHT? ;)
-
Thank you poundcake!!!!
-
I....cried. I had to log out even before GOD spoke his words because I cried once I saw the rewards...thank you so much!
-
Thank you!!!!!
-
Wait... so you only got the block if you participated in the feat, which, I thought I did, but nada, no rock no nothing, and now, I think I'm experiencing that straw that breaks the camel's back thing. Because this is a small thing, but I am motherfucking furious.
-
TY so much!!
The SB-1 was the thing I've wanted for the longest time!!
The crittermobiles were the only other thing I really, really wanted so the TR-1 was icing on the glitchy cake!!
-
holy crap, thanks!
-
oh crap, I can't believe I missed it :(
-
Thank yoU! Thank yOU! It's so nice to be able to own these items finally :)
-
I am utterly speechless! (Which doesn't mean I can't type.. lol). Between work and trying to catch some zzzeees, I did all I could for the feat. Thank you so much for the gifts. What a delight! If only I could bring them from Gitch into my rl. I will cherish them.. and share them for the few moments we have left to play in this extraordinarily beloved world. Thank you TS all. :)
-
But how does it DROP????

Inquiring minds want to know! ^

I didn't get a 'new item' screen for the SB-1. Does this mean I'd held it before at some point? I'd long thought that when I was new, someone gave one to me which I promptly sold to a vendor.

O_O

I didn't get the messages for either of the musicblocks I'd never even seen before
-
I've been traveling and missed the feat. :'(
-
For those who missed the feat, one player is offering hers for sale in the marketplace and others may well come up for sale in towers.
ETA: corrected below: do not open a help case. :( [orig post: @Blitheandbonny, you should open a help case.....]
-
Counter to what oscarette said, please do NOT open a help case (especially if you are "furious" about "a small thing"). There is no help team any more, though some cases are getting answered on a volunteer basis. But, no one is going to spend hours combing logs to see if what something thinks they might remember us actually true.
-
Getting the music blocks was a lovely gift from TS. I have also seen in game a lot of people who did not do the feat getting help from other glitchen and/or spending currants to buy what they want. The prices have come way down.
-
Thanks for the musicblocks, they are awesome.:)
-
What do you mean SB1 musicblock drop?
-
It has been widely reported that some in-game actions (supposedly possible to be performed by someone on their first day playing) causes an SB-1 musicblock to appear in your inventory (in much the same way that petting piggies can cause musicblocks to do so.
Much speculation has ensued over what that in-game action is.
And clearly, the devs enjoy toying with us, because Stoot's COMMENTING this thread, but only to point out that people shouldn't open help cases, not to
TELL US WHAT MAKES THE SB-1 DROP ALREADY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

If there was a Glitch Achievement for being in the right place at just one smidge past the right time, I'd be top of the leaderboard.
Sad, but not surprised. *sigh*
-
This was completely unexpected, getting this block. Tears came to my eyes as I listened to all 3 of the blocks received....but, like others here, I want to know if this was truly obtainable in the game. Thank you, Stoot.
-
Agreed. :) Love that the three rare blocks were distributed en masse to participants in the last feat. Wonderful way to share it around for more Glitchen to enjoy.
-
I wasn't aware that the T-1 existed prior to the Tottly's Toy's-- I'd assumed from the alliteration it was new to this feat? Does anyone know different?
--Me
-
The T-1 has existed approximately as long as the GNG has. Or, the image was uploaded at approximately the same time at least. And yes, the block has existed in-game before this feat; I can personally confirm that. I paid 1.5 million currants several months back to hear one.
-
Huh. Live and Learn.
So how does the T-1 drop?
And, wasn't there another question?
OH YEAH!
How does the SB-1 drop?
--me
-
I didn't open a help case, nor did I have any intention of doing so. It's still a fucking shitty thing to have done, stoot, and I don't appreciate the condescension. But fuck it, the asteroid hits soon anyway, and I can't be bothered to give a fuck.
-
Not so blithe. Or bonny. :(
--Me
-
I will likely never make a crab happy unless I can play that box for it :(
-
wow blithe, if you're that pissed you can have mine. what an incredibly trivial thing to be angry about.
-
oh, so lots of folks have it now because of the feat? Maybe that will help with getting the crab to be happy about the other music blocks.
I'm curious to what it sounds like so if anyone sees me in game who has one please play it for me (I don't need to own one)
-
I gave my SB-1 to stoot!
-
I wasn't suggesting staff comb over any logs. It was a running joke I had; I thought I'd had one once when new, didn't know what it was and had sold it. Even if I'd really believed that were true, I wouldn't have bothered staff. Shouldn't have even mentioned it i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Oh no! I missed the feat!!!
Damn :(
-
Send me a message if you want one of the rare blocks- I'm happy to have heard them once for myself and am also happy to share with those who missed the feat. I'm really good at spotting BS too, though, so be honest ;)
-
Sloppy Ketchup, there's also a way to check if someone participated in the feat or not, perhaps that is what you're using :)
-
Indeed ;)
-
A feat over a holiday weekend when many people (including me) are out of town? Thanks.
-
It was bang in the middle of the week, iirc. Tuesday into Weds. There's no day that will be good for everyone in the whole world, and they don't have very many days left to choose among.
ETA: I know some people in the US were unavailable for days before and after the holiday. Some players are unavailable every day. There are school finals, and holidays in other countries, and people have health emergencies, or child custody days when they can't play, and work deadlines, and etc. Every day is a problem for someone. :(
-
No despairing, people, because in 2 weeks, none of this will matter anymore.
-
Damn. It hurts knowing I missed a last chance to get something like that though, even if it was only for a few more weeks.
That's really the sorta thing I'd have expected to be just sent out as a surprise gift or something. Or maybe be a feat that lasted to the end of the game's existence.
C'est la vie. There are still other new things I can see, at least, and some nice merch items coming out.
ETA: oscarette, the holiday was on Thurs, so many people would have been traveling and cooking on Tues and Weds.
-
I'm in the same boat as Miss Giggles above. darn. i missed the feat time as well.
-
I was so happy to get the unexpected rare music blocks. It seems a shame people get so upset about not being notified ahead of time or not having a chance to participate. The complaint about when feats take place has been going on since we started feats. At this point, I don't play much but I look over at forums or changelogs.
There is not much happening aside from the new wardrobe items, fireplaces, and the one feat we had since the announcement about the end of the game. Yet: I even got an email saying : " ...please come and play a bit more ---we're releasing all kinds of things that we have saved up...." So, they are letting us know to expect things at some point.
It seems a lot to ask to expect TS to be sure everyone is included according to their time schedules and plans.
-
I wasn't expecting to get to do everything, and I think this is the first time I have ever, ever, ever even remotely been hurt about a reward I didn't get a chance to be a part of in this game. I'm not upset; it just stings a bit.
Those are some of the most desired and elusive things in the game, and since the game is ending, it'd seem more fitting to make it where everyone could have one so long as they logged in during the last few weeks of the game (more like the pickle that gave the GNG), whether it was a feat that lasted the duration of the game's end or being mailed as a present (that would have fit anyone's schedule). I prefer the feat idea- it just should've been a longer feat than it was.
It doesn't matter in the end that much, but it doesn't change how I feel, nor do I feel like I've been overly negative or ungrateful about it. I'm glad those that had a chance to get it got it. And I'm glad there are other things for me to see and do, when I have the time to do it.
That's just my take on the situation. I've nothing more to say about it.
